HGI Counseling Center’s Continuing Education program offers psychotherapists the opportunity to learn collaborative therapy practices directly from the pioneers of this postmodern counseling approach, which has gained global recognition.
Our Continuing Education offerings include a variety of programs, such as:
Workshops
These interactive sessions provide practical skills and insights into collaborative therapy techniques.
Ethics Seminars
These seminars invite participants to examine the intersection of ethics, law, and professional practice in fields such as Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, Counseling, and Psychology.
During the seminars, clinicians tackle important dilemmas, including:
- Who establishes these laws and rules?
- What are the implications of adhering to them?
- Why do some laws contradict effective clinical practices?
Participants in HGI’s Ethics Seminars will:
- Review and clarify current ethical, legal, and professional guidelines for clinical practice.
- Discuss how clinicians make judgments regarding these guidelines.
- Explore the foundations of these guidelines.
Additionally, case consultation is available for those who wish to apply ethical, legal, and practical considerations to clinical challenges. Each three-hour session helps participants meet their continuing education requirements.
Conferences
HGI regularly hosts conferences, often in collaboration with the Taos Institute, featuring expert speakers and networking opportunities.
International Summer Institute
This annual intensive program in Collaborative Therapy, presented by HGI, Harlene Anderson, and Grupo Campos Eliseos, provides a unique and immersive learning experience. Participants delve into postmodern and social construction collaborative philosophies and practices alongside peers from around the globe at Hotel Las Palapas in the Mayan Riviera. This conference offers an opportunity to engage with an expanding international community of collaborative practitioners in a relaxing beach resort setting, featuring cultural activities, networking, and informal consultations with Harlene Anderson and her colleagues.
Visitor Study Program
HGI also offers a Visitor Study Program for clinicians and educators interested in exploring collaborative therapy practices for specified periods. Visitors can attend on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and are encouraged to observe and engage in ongoing clinical and training programs, including therapy sessions, teamwork, seminars, and case consultations. Advance scheduling is required for visits, and those seeking clinical case or program consultations should request an appointment when arranging their visit. All visitors have access to HGI’s extensive library of texts and videotapes for independent study.
International visitors can also gain insights into the history of systems theory and family therapy in the United States, as well as current psychotherapy theories and practices in both private and public sectors.
