Tushanna N. Price, M.A., LMFT
Tushanna N. Price, MA, LMFT, is HGI Counseling’s Executive Director. She has served as a learner, a therapist, and a faculty member, and has been instrumental in supporting the growth of HGI Counseling during that time. Price first joined our nonprofit organization as a licensed marriage and family therapist in 2017. She brings to the position an extensive background of knowledge and expertise from her time at HGI Counseling as well as from previous roles.
Prior to joining HGI Counseling, Price served various organizations including the United States Army as a family advocate beginning in 2009. Prior to joining HGI Counseling, Price worked for Safe Haven Community Services, Clear Vision Support Services, and the United States Army.
Michael Pontello, M.A., LMFT-Supervisor
Michael Pontello, M.A., LMFT-Supervisor began her training and professional experience with HGI as an intern. Through the years she has been invited into a variety of communities through the numerous clinical programs HGI Counseling has to offer. The bulk of her therapeutic experiences have involved work in public schools though she has also enjoyed working with many clients through HGI Counseling’s open community program. While involved in these programs she has worked with HGI Counseling’s new learners at various stages of their careers as a co-therapist, reflecting team member, and faculty supervisor. Michael has been amazed at the HGI community and journeys that each person has gone on as they achieve their goals.
Erin Jacobs, M.A., LMFT
Erin Jacobs, M.A., LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who has been providing therapeutic services to adults, children, teens and families for many years. Life has its challenges and at times may feel overwhelming which may lead to feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety and/or extreme sadness. It is Erin’s intention to provide a safe place where you can feel and be understood and accepted which allows you space to explore feelings, process experiences, manage conflicts and move toward positive changes. Erin looks forward to walking with you on your journey to creating a more helpful mindset, building effective coping strategies, developing/maintaining healthy relationships and expanding your repertoire of problem solving skills. Alexas Gomez, M.S., LMFT-A
Marriage and Family Therapist
Alexa Gomez, M.S., LMFT-A is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the Houston area. She holds a Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University focusing on couples, family, and individual psychotherapy. Alexa works primarily with children and young adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, and life transitions. She has worked primarily with school-aged children from elementary through high school. Andrea believes clients are experts on their own lives and works with them to help access their strengths, work through their struggles, and develop skills that can help improve their life and mental well-being.
Amy Sanseverino, LMFT, LPC

Amy Sanseverino is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is passionate about helping people feel better and find their voice. Over the years, Amy has worked in various settings such as schools, group homes, and a private practice. She has assisted individuals and families work through a variety of emotions and challenging life situations, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, anger, interpersonal struggles, relationship conflicts and substance abuse. Amy believes that everyone has a unique story; she loves to listen, explore their feelings, strengthen their daily coping skills, and help each day feel more hopeful.
Nkem Chinwah, LMFT, LPC
Life Coach and AAMFT Supervisor Candidate
Nkem Chinwah is an LPC, LMFT (AAMFT-Supervisor in progress) supervisor and Life Coach who enjoys working with clients from different cultural backgrounds. She is experienced in working with adults, navigating everyday life situations and transitions. She also works with individuals, couples, and families with HGI Counseling, and in her private practice, and supervises students as they grow their therapeutic skills. Nkem is also an adjunct Marriage and Family Therapist instructor at Our Lady at the Lake University (OLLU) where she teaches and supervises aspiring MFT and LPC therapy students to cultivate their therapeutic skills in the school clinic and work towards obtaining their licensure.
Anousha Lakhani, M.A., LMFT-Associate, LPC-Associate
Anousha Lakhani, M.A., LMFT-Associate, LPC-Associate has 10 years of experience in the mental health field working in a variety of settings and with diverse populations. Her work experience ranges from working in a foster care home for girls, middle/junior high school and preschool settings, the community local mental health authority in Austin, TX, and in several private practice settings. Anousha specializes in providing culturally affirming and responsive therapy for teens and adolescents, adults, and couples with anxiety, stress, trauma, sexuality/identity, and confidence issues. Anousha’s approach to counseling is experiential and collaborative.
Nawshaba Zaman, M.A., LPC
Nawshaba Zaman, M.A.,LPC is an individual therapist licensed in Texas. she specializes in trauma and has helped many people who have experienced physical trauma, sexual trauma or emotional abuse. Nawshaba has also worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and ADHD. Her therapy style is warm and interactive. She believes in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and she don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. Nawshaba speaks multiple languages, including Bengali, Hindi and Urdu. Her approach is person-centered and collaborative therapy. Together we will collaboratively complete the treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Samantha E. Coy-Pham, M.S., LPC, NCC
Samantha E. Coy-Pham’s, MS, LPC, NCC, Licensed Psychotherapist, approach to therapy focuses heavily on collaborating with families and individuals, and together working towards coming up with solutions to make life ultimately happier. In a therapeutic setting, problems can be deconstructed and processed more efficiently so the family can learn to work together. Samantha thoroughly enjoys working with the adolescent population, and has spent many hours helping families communicate more effectively with their children. She has worked in an acute psychiatric setting for over six years, and during that time has become very familiar with crisis situations and issues affecting our adolescent population, such as cutting, suicidal thoughts or actions, and bullying.
Britteny Brooks, B.S., M.S.
Brittney Brooks holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Psychology. She is currently pursuing dual licensure as an LMFT and LPC at Our Lady of the Lake University. her goals are to expand her collaborative stance as a therapist through her work at HGI Counseling and to be a resource of family systems, especially in impoverished areas.
Carmen Simon, LMFT-A
Carmen Simon, LMFT-A believes that therapy is a lifelong journey of personal growth. As a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family therapist (LMFT-A), she continually grows with every client and colleague that she encounters. Her career began in California in 2007, where she worked as a paraprofessional residential counselor with adolescents. Since then, she has graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University of California in the San Francisco Bay Area (2019). Joining the counseling team at HGI Counseling, is her first clinical role in the Greater Houston area. When Carmen worked in California, she specialized in working with diverse communities, including unhoused adults, lower-income children and families, dually diagnosed clients, and the LGBTQQIA community.
Ellen Van Wart, LMFT-A
Ellen Van Wart is a masters level counseling student at the Katy campus of the University of Houston Victoria and has 15 years of experience working with children and their parents in a school setting. As a full supporter of the collaborative-dialogic approach to therapy, she is happy to be completing her internship at HGI Counseling under the supervision of Nkem Chinwah, LMFT and LPC. Steven Loredo, LMFT-A
Steven is a native Houstonian with BA in Psychology from Texas State University. Currently, Steven is a masters level intern from Our Lady of the Lake, studying marriage and family therapy. Driven by his faith and past, Steven’s passion is helping men and male adolescents with their mental health. When he isn’t at school or working, he enjoys watching marvel or anime, watching the Astros with his dad, and training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
